We are currently seeking applications for a Communications Manager (Press & Media) within the Food Standards Scotland based in Aberdeen. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. This is an opportunity to work in our growing and ambitious communications and marketing team to help tackle one of the most difficult issues facing Scotland – the health of our nation.

Reporting to the Head of Press and Media and working with the wider C&M and FSS leadership team, you will be responsible for proactively building a positive reputation for FSS through increased media coverage – both proactively and reactively.

Essential Criteria
1. Excellent writing skills gained through a background in journalism or a communications role in an agency or in-house.  
2. Successful track record of driving media coverage. 
3. Knowledge of the UK & Scottish media and trade press landscape covering news, consumer and PR with an interest in current affairs (media, politics and food trends).
4. Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and research skills.
