Overview
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our lives in unexpected ways and is one of the biggest challenges we will face as civil servants in our careers. Supporting the health workforce is one of Scottish Government's most important roles at this time, working with representatives of the workforce to ensure they feel valued.

The Health Workforce Directorate leads on the agreement of the pay, terms and conditions for the health workforce including hospital doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and hospital executive teams.

This will be demanding and fulfilling work and as a Directorate we will all be guided by the Scottish Government values, in particular that we treat people with kindness, dignity and compassion.

The Business Assistant post provides an excellent opportunity to work with colleagues in Scottish Government in high profile and often fast moving policy areas attracting considerable Ministerial, stakeholder and media involvement.

The role of Modern Apprentice posts in this range (A3) is to offer business administrative support and secretariat support under the supervision of and in support of amore senior officer. Duties usually call for discretion and initiative in carrying out routine tasks and will often involve the use of IT based skills.

Main Duties
• To provide general administrative support across the health and social care directorates such as ordering stationary and setting up conference calls.
• Assist in monitoring directorate mailboxes.
• Processing financial payments and ensuring all goods and services are receipted in accordance with Scottish Government guidelines.
• Storing and searching for documents in our electronic filing system.
• Providing secretariat support at meetings.

Qualification
Throughout the first 12 months the candidate will be expected to gain a relevant SVQ qualification (Business Administration). Support will be provided by a qualified assessor who will work with the successful candidate on a monthly basis. Time will be given to work on your qualification, this includes delivering 2 presentations.

1. Excellent administration and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and plan workload.
2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confidence in engaging with a range of people at all levels.
3. Motivated and well organised with the ability to use own initiative to work at times with limited supervision.

The 4th Essential criteria box within the application form to be filled with "N/A".
