We are currently seeking applications for an Administrative Officer within the ARE : Agricultural Policy Delivery (RPID) based in Longman House, Inverness. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. Candidates with a disability who meet the essential criteria below will be invited to the assessments.

Inverness Area Office is one of a network of 16 local Area Offices situated throughout Scotland that perform a key role in the work of Scottish Government Rural Payments and Inspections Division (SGRPID), within the Agricultural and Rural Economy Directorate and a main point of contact for farmers, crofters and the rural community, delivering grants, subsidies and other Government policies to the rural community.

The post is a key role for local delivery and is part of our busy front office team through accurate administration and inspection of subsidy claims, which result in £700 million of direct aid to the Scottish rural economy. You can expect to spend a lot of time on the phone or at our front counter helping farmers and crofters with questions about their applications or claims as we are the main point of contact for Scottish Government rural policies When not dealing with customers you will be processing the applications and claims that our customers have submitted to you.

Qualifications Required
For jobs in Band A, you must hold a minimum of 5 Standard Grades (grades 1 – 3) or Ordinary Grades (A-C) including English and a numerical subject.

Other qualifications equivalent to these may also be acceptable, if you are in any doubt please contact to discuss.

Essential Criteria
1.  Experience of customer service.
2.  Good communication skills. Confident in dealing with a range of people and producing written work that is accurate, clear and concise.
3.  Good administration and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads to achieve targets.
4.  Strong IT skills. You should have experience of using a variety of IT systems including Microsoft Office products.
