We are currently seeking applications for a Business Planning and Risk Manager within the Scottish Public Pensions Agency based in Galashiels. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. The Scottish Public Pensions Agency (SPPA) is an Agency of the Scottish Government. Our purpose is to deliver a high quality customer service that ensures the day to day administration and payment of pensions on behalf of the Scottish NHS, Teacher’s, Police and Fire schemes as well as the Scottish Parliamentary and Scottish Legal Aid Board schemes.

The Business Planning and Risk Manager will report to the Head of Business Management and work closely with the Agency’s Strategic Leadership Team to lead a central strategic planning function. The Business Planning and Risk Manager will also maintain a coordinated approach to risk management across the Agency, whilst supporting the Audit and Risk Committee.

Qualifications Required
For jobs in Band B & C you must hold a minimum of 3 Highers or equivalent.

We would also consider significant relevant experience if you do not meet the minimum required qualifications as stated above.

Essential Criteria
1. Experience of working in a planning, risk or governance role.
2. Understanding of the operating and external environment impacting on the public sector in Scotland with an ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders and horizon scan for risks.
3. Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to explain complex detail, provide professional advice and opinion.
4. Understanding of performance reporting and the benefits to the Agency.
