We are currently seeking applications for a Lead Engineer Infrastructure Operations within the Information & Technology Services (iTECS) branch based in Saughton House, Edinburgh. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. DDaT Pay Supplement
This post attracts a £4,000.00 DDaT pay supplement after a 9 month DDaT competency qualifying period.  Pay supplements are temporary payments designed to address recruitment and retention issues caused by market pressures and are subject to regular review.

Overview
DCNS are responsible for the provision and upkeep of the Scottish Government’s IP and Telephony networks, and the two Data Centres of the Scottish Government. The post holder is expected to demonstrate proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting network technologies including routers, switches, wifi controllers, load balancers and firewalls. As well as technical skills, the successful candidate will require communication and leadership skills with the focus on service delivery.

Qualifications Required 
For jobs in Band B and C you must hold a minimum of 3 highers or equivalent.

CCNA or 5 years’ experience in network support, design, configuration and troubleshooting.

Other qualifications equivalent to these may also be acceptable, if you are in any doubt please contact to discuss.

Essential Criteria
1. An established track record of service request and operational management with the ability to deliver services to agreed timescales clearly demonstrated.
2. Proficient in methods and techniques for the capture of traffic information and the analysis of this information into its constituent elements.
3. Practical working knowledge of the key IT systems utilised in this post: network management stations, firewall configuration, network analysis tools, DHCP management, vSphere management, NSX, routing and switching gui/cli.
4. The ability to work with limited supervision, displaying good judgement, strong planning, organisational, influencing and project management skills.The candidate will represent the department in infrastructure design/troubleshooting meetings internally and with external agencies and companies.
