We are currently seeking applications for a Cyber Operations Manager within Social Security based in Glasgow. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. The Chief Digital Officer (CDO) Directorate currently has 3 branches, Digital Risk & Security, Technology & Platforms and Architecture – the Cyber Operations Manager will sit within Digital Risk & Security reporting to the Security Operations Manager.

Pay Supplement
This post qualifies for the DDAT pay supplement, currently £4,000 pro rata.  Pay supplements are temporary payments designed to address recruitment and retention issues caused by market.  For staff not currently in receipt of the allowance it is payable after successful completion of the qualifying period, normally 9 months. Pay supplements are subject to regular review.

Qualifications Required
For jobs in Band B & C you must hold a minimum of 3 Highers or equivalent.

Essential Criteria
1. Demonstrable experience of working with different digital architectures and digital solutions and a solid understanding of the risks represented by a variety of solutions (particularly on-premise, public/hybrid cloud), with experience of managing security in an environment with frequent change and 7x24 availability.
2. Knowledge and understanding of government or industry information security standards with demonstrable experience in interpreting and applying information assurance legislation and policies.
3.  Demonstrable experience of using technical security tools in an operational environment to manage, detect and respond to cyber security incidents, including technical knowledge of SIEM/SOC, security engineering, authentication, protocols, cryptography and application security.
4.  Good communication skills and experience of communicating to different audiences, including senior management, with the ability to describe technical issues in non-technical manner.
