We are currently seeking applications for seven Senior Developers within the Chief Digital Office based in Dundee or Glasgow.

This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. Candidates with a disability who meet the essential criteria below will be invited to the assessments.

This post attracts a £4,000 Digital Data and Technology Pay Supplement after a 9 month ICT Competency qualifying period. Pay supplements are temporary payments designed to address recruitment and retention issues caused by market pressures and are subject to regular review.

Overview
The Chief Digital Officer (CDO) division within the Social Security directorate is delivering an ambitious digital programme to support the transfer of welfare powers to the Scottish Government, supporting the strategy of a leading digital organisation and ensuring Scotland becomes a leading digital nation.

The Chief Digital Officer (CDO) Division is responsible for delivering the cloud infrastructure, capability and solutions that support Social Security Scotland.

Qualifications Required
For jobs in Band B, you must hold a minimum of 3 Highers or equivalent.

Essential Criteria
1. Experience in designing and implementing high traffic web applications and web services.
2. Experience of web-centred development using the following technologies:
• Java;
• RDBMS and SQL;
• HTTP, XML and JSON;
• JavaScript frameworks;
• SOAP or RESTful web services;
• Linux or Mac OSX operating system.
3. Awareness of standard technical practices including unit testing, version control, continuous integration, coding standards, design patterns & refactoring.
4. Experience of working in agile projects/programmes. In particular you must be proficient in iterative software development and understand the associated responsibilities, practices and artefacts. The ability to communicate clearly and consistently on these, and other elements of the software development lifecycle, with the wider team, is also important.
