We are currently seeking applications for a Programme Business Manager – Social Security Programme Business Unit within the SSD: Programme Management Delivery based in Glasgow and Edinburgh. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. As Business Manager you will perform a vital role by managing effectively across the following three areas:

Senior manager support: Given the complexity of the Programme and pace of decision-making it is essential that senior managers' time is planned as efficiently as possible. The senior management team will require your proactive support in ensuring that they are made aware of all incoming business and have sufficient opportunity to consider and respond to issues.

We will ensure that people's health and wellbeing is a priority. We will ensure that we identify and meet L&D needs to help staff reach their potential.

Corporate business: We need to contribute to the Directorate and wider Scottish Government (SG) business by handling various requests for information, provide updates on Programme priorities and delivery plans; ensure compliance with SG ways of working on e.g. information management and performance management; robust forecasting and management of cross-divisional budgets; and, corporate governance and business continuity.

The postholder will be based in Victoria Quay Edinburgh or Atlantic Quay Glasgow, with regular travel between Edinburgh and Glasgow. Some occasional travel to Dundee will also be required.

Qualifications Required
For jobs in Band B & C you must hold a minimum of 3 Highers or equivalent, or relevant experience.

1. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a demanding workload of competing priorities. Shows resilience in meeting tight deadlines whilst ensuring outputs are robust and high quality.
2. Ability to identify capability gaps for organisation and implement learning approaches that ensure current business needs are met and enable staff to achieve their full potential. Promotes peer learning and support.
3. Works collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders, using influence to agree shared organisational goals and ways of working. Creates a safe and inclusive culture that helps staff manage change.
4. Provides effective and inspiring leadership to own team, celebrates successes, learns lessons and manages conflict or poor performance. Reviews and realigns objectives and resources to ensure the most efficient service to stakeholders, based on feedback.
