We are currently seeking applications for Financial Accountant within the Disclosure Scotland based in Glasgow. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. Disclosure Scotland currently provides a criminal checking service and is responsible for the operation and delivery of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Act on behalf of the Scottish Ministers. This post sits directly below the Head of Finance and Analytical Services within the Corporate Services Directorate of Disclosure Scotland. This is an interesting time within this organisation as we transform our current business processes to become more digitally engaged through having replaced of our existing systems including our Financial system. We are now embarking on the Implementation of the Disclosure (Scotland) Act which became law on 14 July 2020.

This post plays a vital role in supporting the consolidation of the Agency's annual accounts in accordance with the government financial reporting manual (FREM) and Scottish Public Financial Manual (SPFM). This is a busy, challenging post where you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the system of budgetary control and financial monitoring within the Agency.

You will contribute to financial reporting continuously reviewing and taking appropriate opportunities to raise reporting standards and improve operational effectiveness and consistency through process, technology and people.

Key to the post is the ability to maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, both internal and external whilst managing the timing and quality of information.

This post reports to the Head of Finance and Analytical Services and is responsible for a team including 1 x B1, 1 x A4, and 1 x A3.

Qualifications Required
Professionally qualified accountant – CCAB professional accountancy body or equivalent with up to date CPD.

Essential Criteria
1. Professionally qualified accountant – CCAB professional accountancy body or equivalent with up to date CPD, understanding and experience of Budgeting and Financial Management processes and Reporting.
2. Excellent technical accounting skills with solid experience in monthly management accounts preparation and solid experience in compiling year-end financial.
3. Strong financial modelling skills using applications such as Microsoft Excel.
4. Proven ability to work on your own initiative, coping with the demands of a fast changing environment where opportunities need to be quickly realised, whilst managing competing priorities and ensuring deadlines are met utilising staff available.
