We are currently seeking applications for a Decommissioning Policy and Project Manager within Energy and Climate Change based in Edinburgh and Glasgow. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. Candidates with a disability who meet the essential criteria below will be invited to the assessments.

Energy and Climate Change Directorate leads the Scottish Government’s work to develop a thriving decarbonised economy, with world class public utilities and the best outcomes for Scottish consumers.

Scotland’s Energy Strategy recognises that a strong domestic oil and gas industry is not only essential to providing energy security during the energy transition process but can, and should, play a positive role in supporting Scotland’s transition to net zero by 2045.

The Decommissioning team within the Energy and Climate Change Directorate is responsible for developing policy, and engaging with stakeholders to help establish Scotland as a thriving centre for responsible decommissioning activity. The decommissioning of North Sea oil and gas infrastructure, at the end of its current life cycle, presents great potential for Scotland to capitalise on a market that is forecast to reach £15 billion by 2025.

In addition, the decommissioning industry has an essential part to play in Scotland’s transition to net-zero through the re-use of oil and gas assets for new industries such as carbon capture and storage, hydrogen and offshore wind.
