We are currently seeking applications for a Digital Solutions Manager within the Food Standards Scotland directorate based in Aberdeen. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. The Corporate Services branch in Food Standards Scotland (FSS) provides a range of services to support the organisation to deliver its statutory obligations and strategic goals.  These services include Project Management Office, Finance, HR, IT, Records and Information Management, Facilities Management, Health and Safety, and Administrative support.  Most of the Corporate Services work relates to the strategic outcome of FSS being efficient and effective.

FSS has an established central IT team that currently is responsible for  providing and supporting all aspects of Information Technology and Digital Transformation.

The  Digital Solutions Manager is a new role and the successful candidate will be responsible for understanding the wider business requirements  with a view to identifying and developing  suitable IT or digital solutions with a key objective of being able to expose data from such platforms.

This role requires a responsible, self-motivated, polite and articulate individual, able to communicate with third parties and colleagues at all levels and proven ability to take initiative.(Candidates should expect to work from home at this time until such times as Scottish Government announce a return to workplaces). The role will report to the ICT and Change Manager.

Qualifications Required
For jobs in Band B & C you must hold a minimum of 3 Highers or equivalent.

Essential Criteria
1. Ability to communicate effectively across organisational, technical and political boundaries, with experience of communicating technical concepts to others that may not have a technical background in a way which will promote engagement and build consensus on conflicting business demands.
2. Through data innovation, recognise and exploit business opportunities to ensure efficient and effective performance of business and organisational processes, and explore new ways of conducting these.
3. Develop fit-for-purpose, resilient, scalable and future-proof data services to meet user needs. Demonstrable understanding of how to expose data from systems,  link data from multiple systems and deliver Reporting/Publishing services.
4. Technical understanding relating to specific technologies that underpins ability to deliver the responsibilities and tasks of the role. Apply the required breadth and depth of technical knowledge.
