We are currently seeking applications for a Bus Partnership Fund Project Management Officer within Transport Scotland based in Glasgow or Edinburgh. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. Transport Scotland is the national transport agency for Scotland and is accountable to Parliament and the public through Scottish Ministers, with a budget of around £2 billion per year. Transport is a vital feature of the Scottish Government's focus on increasing sustainable economic growth, and transport investments and policies have major impacts on the economy, people, and the environment.

The Bus Partnership Fund (BPF) was launched in November 2020. In Programme for Government 2020, the Scottish Government reaffirmed its commitment to providing over £500m, through the BPF and Managed Motorways project, as part of a long-term investment to deliver targeted bus priority measures on local and trunk roads. The intention is to reduce the negative impacts of congestion on bus services, address the decline in bus patronage and support wider modal shift.

The Bus Partnership Fund will complement the new powers in the Transport (Scotland) Act 2019, enabling local authorities, in partnership with bus operators, to work together to develop and deliver ambitious schemes that incorporate bus priority measures to tackle the negative impacts of congestion on bus services.

This post will support the delivery of the BPF and will be an excellent opportunity to use and develop project management skills. There will also be opportunities to work across other areas of bus policy, as part of the wider Bus Regulatory and Funding Team, within Transport Scotland’s Bus, Accessibility and Active Travel (BAAT) Directorate.

Qualifications Required
For jobs in Band B & C you must hold a minimum of 3 Highers or equivalent.

Essential Criteria
1. Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience in using business software to produce professional documentation.
2. Highly organised, with a meticulous approach to delivering quality work.
3. Understanding of project management, with some experience of the PMO role.
4. Experience of building productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
