We are currently seeking applications for for Design Operations Suppport Officer within the Directorate for Social Security based in Glasgow or Edinburgh. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. Candidates with a disability who meet the essential criteria below will be invited to the assessments.

The Smith Commission proposed the devolution of significant welfare powers to the Scottish Parliament. Many of these powers are set out in the new Scotland Act. Social Security benefits in excess of £2.9bn will be transferred from the UK Parliament. This will allow the Scottish Government to establish many elements of a Scottish social security system. Ministers will use these powers to demonstrate the competency of the Scottish Government in delivering new services effectively and to outline a distinctive Scottish approach to social security. This is a high-profile and exciting area, with continuing political, public and media interest.

The Social Security Directorate has been established to take forward the Scotland Act powers on devolved Social Security benefits. This vacancy is in the Social Security Programme Management & Delivery Division of the Social Security Directorate. This post will sit within the Design Operations team, which in turn forms part of the wider User Centred Design (UCD) team.

Essential Criteria
1. Strong organisational skills, adaptable and able to deliver to agreed timescales and deadlines.
2. Able to build professional relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
3. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
4. Able to identify and source relevant information to produce concise, well-structured and accurate written and numerical work.
