We are currently seeking applications for a Lead Specialist – with a background in Excellence in Headship / System Leadership within the Education Scotland. The role can be based in either or Glasgow, Livingston, Dundee or Aberdeen location. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. A Lead Specialist within Education Scotland works collaboratively to develop and embed knowledge and understanding of effective professional learning and leadership within the education system in Scotland.

This role is specifically related to supporting the professional learning of Headteachers within the Scottish education system. This role will focus on the Excellence in Headship programme but will also include close working links with Lead Specialists with responsibility for School and System Leadership collective.

This role is specifically related to supporting the professional learning of Headteachers and system leaders within the Scottish education system. This role will focus on areas including the Excellence in Headship and System Leadership work within the Education Scotland Professional Learning and Leadership Team as well as supporting the overarching work of the team in coordinating, leading and facilitating a range of programmes and professional learning opportunities across education. This role will include working closely with other Lead Specialists who work across the middle and aspiring Headteacher programmes to ensure coherence across all areas of work.

Essential Criteria
1. An excellent track record of innovation, development and delivery relating to professional learning and leadership and programme development.
2. Secure knowledge of effective models and approaches to professional learning and leadership development and delivery.
3. Evidence of success as a leader of learning at a local, regional and/or national level including a detailed knowledge of current national developments in the Scottish Education system, teacher education and professional learning.
4. Demonstrable profile of high quality, relevant personal and professional development in the area of educational leadership, which may include additional postgraduate qualification(s) at SCQF level 11.
