We are currently seeking applications for a Senior Data Architect within the National Records of Scotland (NRS) based in Edinburgh. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. DDaT Pay Supplement
This post attracts a  £4,000 DDaT pay supplement after a 9 months DDaT competency qualifying period.

Pay supplements are temporary payments designed to address recruitment and retention issues caused by market pressures and are subject to regular review.

National Records of Scotland (NRS) deliver a number of services that are fundamental to the lives of the people of Scotland. We are currently going through an exciting period of change and modernisation as we look to deliver Scotland's Census 2022, work to modernise our digital services for registrations and statistical services and look to adopt new cloud technologies and new ways of working.

As our Senior Data Architect you'll have the opportunity to help shape and drive change in the organisation. NRS has a number of unique data assets and specialist business processes and the Senior Data Architect sets the vision for the organisation’s use of data and defines how the data will be stored, consumed, processed, integrated and managed.

Essential Criteria
1. Demonstrable experience of creating data strategies, roadmaps and associated systems / tooling to support complex or enterprise-wide solutions.
2. Demonstrable experience of assuring complex technical solutions against agreed policies, standards, design patterns or data models.
3. Demonstrable knowledge of a wide field of technology and skills within core data technologies and concepts including (but not limited to) SQL Server, T-SQL, metadata, visualisation, analytics, unstructured data, ETL, data services.
4. Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to articulate the data landscape to a wide variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders
