We are currently seeking applications for a Trainee Accountant within the National Records of Scotland's Finance Team based in Edinburgh. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. The successful candidate will join the National Records of Scotland's Finance Team, part of the Corporate Services Directorate. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, to ensure the delivery of value for money outcomes. The Trainee Accountant has a specific role and also supports the Finance Manager in the delivery of an effective finance function. This post is important in providing the necessary support and advice, building strong relationships with customers to support the Scottish Government's and NRS' overall purpose. The post holder will work directly to the Programme Finance Manager (B2) and will work closely with the Senior Finance Manager (B3) and Programme Finance Lead (C1).

Essential Criteria
1. Advanced excel skills with a proven track record of using excel effectively as a finance business tool.
2. Be able to demonstrate strong analytical skills, with proven ability to extract and analyse complex information from a variety of sources, drawing together key findings and recommendations where financial data analysis concerned.
3. Strong communication skills, including evidence of the ability to build and maintain positive and effective working relationships.
4. An energetic, self-motivated person who takes responsibility for their own workload, works efficiently under pressure and delivers to tight timescales.
