This is a unique opportunity for an exceptional scientist with strong relationship and communication skills, to ensure that scientific and engineering evidence supports the Scottish Government’s ambitious programme for boosting the economy, tackling inequalities and protecting and reforming public services.

The Chief Scientific Adviser for Scotland both champions science as a key driver of the sustainable economy, and ensures that the Scottish Government uses scientific evidence effectively in policy making across Government. 

This Senior Civil Service role is advertised as either a fixed-term appointment at circa £90k (FTE) or on a secondment basis.  The appointment is part-time for up to 3 days per week for 2 years in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.
