Do you want to help shape Scotland’s future?

We are living in unprecedented times as the future of Scotland and the UK changes substantially, including leaving the European Union.   The Scottish Government (SG) is also changing as it gets more powers from the UK Government. We therefore need great people like you to join our team of Non-Executive Directors who support us as we change as an organisation.  This is an exciting time to be joining the SG; we want to welcome candidates who are enthusiastic about embarking on this journey with us.

We want to appoint 4 Non-Executive Directors to the SG to provide strategic challenge, advice and assurance to our core business. These roles will  have a focus on assurance and risk management, and you will play a key role in supporting the organisation’s broader governance structures.

We want to broaden the diversity of our Non-Executive Directors and we welcome applications from candidates from all sections of the community especially those currently under-represented on Scotland’s public bodies, such as disabled people, ethnic minorities and people aged under 50.

If you are interested in this challenging and rewarding role we would like to hear from you!

How to Apply

Applications are invited by midday on Wednesday 3 October using the apply button below where you will also be asked to register your details.  The online application form is a standard form used for all recruitment in the Scottish Government and the instructions may differ from the process being used for this competition.  Please ensure you follow the instructions contained in the further information pack for submitting your additional information.

1. Supporting Statement

This should be no more than 2 sides of A4 and should explain how your qualifications, skills and experience meet the key essential criteria for the role.

2. Tailored career history

Details about aspects of your career relevant to the role provided in your own document.

3.  Two Referees - one personal and one professional.  Name and contact number required only.  Whilst the standard recruitment form states that references will be collected for the successful candidate, in this instance we intend to collect references for all candidates invited to interview.

When you have completed the online application form, please email all of the above documents to SCSHR@gov.scot quoting reference IRC62483.    If you want more information about the role, please get in touch with Julie Humphreys, Board Secretary in the Scottish Government on 0131 244 5533 or email julie.humphreys2@gov.scot
